This Sunday on Dawn Images , the front page was adorned with Nokia 5230 under Style Divas and the last page carried Samsung Genoa under Dawn Twitter section
Both Nokia and Samsung are fighting for the middle class touch mobile phone market with Samsung already dominating with it’s Corby series and Nokia , a late entrant in the segment, had been trying to vow the consumers with it’s 5230 Xpress Music .
Looking at the ads , in our opinion ,
Samsung ads are more to the point , highlighting one thing Touch , the name of the Phone and price ( very important factor) along with phone specs as 2.8 inch screen , Widgets , FM Radio , Free Micro SD 2 GB , Palringo support etc , with colors of the phone shown and visible . Not much user processing required .
Coming to Nokia ad , what are they trying to market , the phone 5230 , OVI Services or Nokia.com/playnow
The ad is going in so many different directions that focusing on one is difficult , above that what is with the expression on these dudes , the first one seems to be in a shock and the second one looks more worried than the first . Are they shocked to see the phone , worried about what they have purchased .
What Nokia could have done was
- go for a White back ground with the 5230 visibly shown ,
- remove the dudes ,
- the applications showing on the screen are a good touch and shows the capabilities of the phone .
For copy Nokia Can use their

- Mention GPS ,
- Free Navigation across the world
- Changeable back Covers
- OVI Store - Thousands of applications at your finger tips
- Nokia has already has a number games from EA Mobile and Gameloft , show their logos
- Dedicated Media Bar
- 2 MPx Camera with on device Photo Editor and 30 FPS Video Recording ( TV Quality )
- S 60 5th Edition
- Hand Writing Recognition with Plectrum ( if available in Pakistan )
There are so many things Nokia can talk about while keeping it relevant to the phone and Services and making people recall the phone .
With the Purple / Pink garish back ground , the ad looks an eyesore on the newspaper and even on large billboards , for inspiration within Nokia , look at the N86 8MP Ad , to the point and visibly attractive
