So I’ve invested in a netbook , an ACER One ZG5 and had been working on making it worth every penny I spent on it , I can connect it to the net through Bluetooth and my Nokia E71 and today I was wondering why not use the E71’s GPS to run tracking on Google Earth Pro on the Netbook.
On software side , I installed Symarctic Ext GPS software – Beta available from http://www.symarctic.com/beta/static.php?page=extgps_download
Also needed is Google Earth Pro as regular Google Earth does not support GPS Tracking .
On hardware side , a netbook / laptop is required with bluetooth builtin or available through a Dongle .
The setup is easy , just install and start Symarctic Ext GPS Beta on your E71 , connect E71 through Bluetooth to the netbook . It’s one click operation and no further setup is required
Go to Control Panel , Bluetooth , select the phone and click on properties and choose the Serial Port connection with Symarctic Ext GPS and you are all set .
Start Google Earth Pro , go to Tools , GPS , click on Realtime Tab , and choose NMEA and start tracking and in 10 min ( including software download and installation time ) you have a realtime navigation system installed on your Netbook .
E71 rocks doesn’t it , this procedure is also applicable on N95 , N96-8gb and any other Series 60 phone with builtin GPS .
Give it a try and give your opinion in comments
