Eldar Muratazain of Mobile Review is the premier Nokia and mobile industry insider and knows much more beforehand than many of us and his predictions are to be taken seriously .
In his recent N97 mini review , Eldar reports it to be 5800isq with the looks of N97 , 8 GB onboard memory and a D-pad less keyboard that’s it and is not impressed with it nor with E72 and I agree with him .
For it’s popular and flagship models Nokia had been following the modify and reintroduce cycle , with E71 to E63 to E71x to E72 , N97 to N97 Mini , Nokia 5800 to 5530 to 5800i , Nokia seems to be loosing it’s edge on design with the only upcoming worth while devices to be N900 and Nokia Booklet 3G and probably 5900 ( again 5800 modified )to be launched in Sep 2009 Nokia World 2009 .
Coming to Eldar’s predictions Eldar predicts Nokia to launch 6 Touch Screen Models in 2009 , let’s see 5800 , 5530 , 5800i , N97 , N97 Mini and N900 but he also says that only 5 could be referred to for now so 5800i is out and some other device is in the works , probably 5900.
He also says that a ‘Bomb’ ( Google translated it as such from Russian ) in touch screen devices will be revealed in October ‘09 and that will not be in Stuttgart and may be revealed on Sep 4th right after Nokia World ‘09 so it’s not Nokia but could be Samsung given Eldar’ praises for the company which has a Touch Screen Device in every segment from the lowly Samsung Star to Midrange Samsung Jet to the top of the Line Innovo 8 , OMNIA HD i8910 and Pixon 12 MP ranging from a hundred plus Euros to 650 range .
He also predicts that in 2011 it will be an all out war between Nokia and Samsung in Touch based device where samsung will loose or come at par with Nokia , he didn’t said that Nokia will loose so there is still hope but Nokia don’t feel relaxed , Samsung By 2010, will have a full complement of touch screen phones costing Euro 140 to Euro 550 in 50 Euro increments that makes 9 models and Samsung is already rocking the boat with it’s current lineup including Touch Toco ultra and high end phones with 800 MHZ processors which may shoot to 1GHZ and 8 MP Cameras going to 12 MP while the best Nokia can do for now is 600 MHZ in upcoming devices with it’s ‘flagship’ running at 463 MHZ and only one 8 MP camera model .
So Nokia you better put your act together , with their hands in so many jars from Entertainment to Gaming to Music to Interet Services to OS and Devices and now alliance with Microsoft , aren’t you loosing your edge in your core business MOBILE DEVICES where new comers focusing on only one segment are grabbing your share fast .
Think About It
