Nokia Booklet 3G is one of the few netbooks which comes with a builtin GPS , powered by Globe Trotter – MO40x A-GPS , the fixation on satellites is quick but what this GPS is for ?
Nokia Booklet 3G has an OVI Maps Widget which shows your current location using the built-in GPS , a click on which will take you to the OVI Maps web browser and show your location
That’s it this is what the GPS is for , I tries using Garmin Mobile PC ( with support for external non-Garmin GPS enabled) on any COM Port it didn’t recognized the GPS , so what’s the use of it .
I live in Pakistan and here we don’t have OVI Maps Navigation available and Garmin Mobile PC along with custom maps is the only solution with GPS on Booklet 3G it’s of no use , the only solution I had was to make my Nokia N86 a Bluetooth GPS device and use it as a GPS gateway.
Nokia release a Firmware for Booklet 3G to fix this issue to make the GPS work with other application beside with OVI Maps Widget which does not serve any purpose .
