While meeting a couple of friends with iPhone I found that none of them has upgrade their iPhones to the latest Firmware version 2.2.1 upon fears that it will not work as YellowSn0w does not work on the updated base band .
Fear not , Dev-Team has posted a procedure which requires a Mac computer and you can make changes to the Firmware yourself for it not to upgrade the base band . Sounds too complicated here ‘s the easier way to do it .
1) Go to http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4691658/iphone_3G_custom_firmware_2.2.1
2) Download the Torrent File via Bit torrent , this firmware is already modified and I’ve used it so can guarantee that it works . It’s about 237.14 mb file so wait a little for it to download
3) Start iTunes and connect your iPhone with old firmware and when it detects the iPhone and ask you to upgrade click on the Restore button while pressing the SHIFT key .
4) A window will open up asking you to point it out the Firmware file , select the downloaded firmware from Bittorent and click ok
5) The Firmware upgrade will take around 30 min and after that your phone is upgraded to Version 2.2.1
6) Sounds simple , it is until you’ll start the phone and find that it’s not accessing your phone company network , here YellowSnow comes to play
7) Connect your phone to the WiFi network and start the program Cydia
Cydia will ask for what kind user are you , choose the first one with GUI
9) Cydia will want to upgrade itself , let it upgrade will take a min or two
10) Click on Manage Button on the bottom menu ,
11) click on Sources
12) then click on Edit on the upper right hand corner ,
13) then choose Add on upper left hand corner , a menu will start up asking Enter Cydia / APT URL
14) Enter http://apt9.yellowsn0w .com ( it’s the number 0 not the letter o in YellowSn0w ) and click ADD Source and right after that Cydia will update the sources.
15) Click Done on upper right hand corner
16) Choose apt9.yellowsn0w.com and install Yellowsn0W software from here
17) Restart the phone by pressing power button for 5 sec and truning it off
18) Turn on the phone and you have a jail Broken iPhone with 2.2.1 firmware running your network.
