Designed in US for the US Market ,Nokia 6790 Surge made the ROW ( Rest of the World ) felt so inadequate , where NAM used to be the last market to get a phone it was becoming the first with the Surge and Nokia felt the same so in Q3’09 , the ROW will get a ROW feature pack version the Nokia 6760 Slide for a paltry sum of Euro 199. ( Hopefully Pak Rupee will appreciate against Euro by then
)
Just like 6790 Surge , 6760 Slide is targeted as a messaging optimized device especially for the young market and is for those who want to stay connected whereever they are with Facebook , My Space and Twitter beside email from OVI , Yahoo , Gmail , MSN along with ISP emails with support upto 10 email accounts.
Unlike the E75 which also touted as a Messaging Phone but needed IMAP setting for emails , 6760 does not require any extra details only user name / email address and password and your email will get served .
For the Gen Text Nokia is also offering integration with GTalk and Windows Live Messenger ,a smart move considering GTalk supports AOL and Windows Live Messenger supports Yahoo so covering all four major IM services in two .
For the wayward in your house or in you , the phone also features inbuilt A-GPS with OVI Maps 3.0 ( or latest ) with terrain maps and 3D Landmarks ( Still awaiting Pakistan Maps )
Other features include a 3.2 Mp Camera , A Slide out 3.2 MP Keyboard , 240 x 320 pixel – 2.4 “ Display , Accelerometer , 120mb Dynamic Memory and a great battery life of 5 hr Talk time and 500 hrs Standby with 7hrs Video playback and 17 hrs Video playback and 9hrs Gaming and support for external memory along with a a true Slide Out Design , a full QWERTY keyboard , and as Nokia says a ‘ Great Multi Tasker ‘ ( hitting iPhone below the belt ) good for Tweets , Email , Instant Messaging . It becomes an ideal , Gaming , Messaging , Entertainment Device which also makes Phone calls .
What I don’t like about the phone
Well , no flash means crappy pics in low light conditions , where is the external keypad , for even a phone call the user have to open the slide out keypad ( hope it’s as sturdy as on N86 ) and a 2.5mm Audio Jack , Nokia what’s wrong with you , people in real world use 3.5mm jacks not 2.5mm wither they have a lot of inventory of these jacks left or they want people to move to 2.5mm . If Nokia can make the world switch to MicroUSB Power Chargers someday they’l change the world to switch to 2.5mm Audio Jacks
So what do you think of the phone
