Nokia today has started the charger exchange program for AC-3E, AC-3U or AC-4U built by BYD Huizhou China as their covers can fall off and expose the user to the internal components of the charger which could result in an electric shock .
The chargers which come under this program are AC-3E and AC-3U manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009 and AC-4U manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009
To check if you have an effected charger look at the side panel or wall where the wall prongs are and check the manufacturer .
You may not be able to see BYD clearly as BYD is also using their stylized logo on chargers so , you have to look a bit more carefully
Not all chargers made by BYD are effected like mine AC-3E is manufactured by BYD ( an effected model ) and when I entered the details on to check my charger at http://chargerexchange.nokia.com/chargerexchange/en/ I got the following message ,
Your charger is not among those affected chargers. And your charger will not be replaced.
Thank you for checking your charger.
so no need to panic if you have one of the above mentioned chargers , check it on the site first before calling your Nokia Care Center
