Nokia Calling All Innovators – Pakistan – Win One Million Rupees

Earlier we talked about Nokia’s Calling all Innovators Global contest  in which Nokia announced the contest for world wide developers ,  to encourage the local talent to come and compete  Nokia Pakistan has started a local contest for all Pakistani Developers to come and join Nokia in developing local apps for Pakistan and the best entry will receive a special prize of Rs 1,000,000/- in cash and the two runner ups will get Rs 500,000 and 300,000 respectively.

The Categories to develop are

For 2010 , The Categories of submission are

  ECO /  Being Green covers applications which may help people reduce their carbon foot print and even think about Earth and Gaya

  Entertainment covers applications which shows the fun side of Nokia phones , something like the next Dance Dance Revolution

Productivity covers applications which makes everyday tasks easier with the use of the mobile like calendar Sync , Voice Recognition etc

Life Improvements covers applications enhances the quality of life , teaches, something like a new word a day etc

If the Million bucks are not enough , Nokia Pakistan will also ensure the entry of these apps into the Global contest in which the prizes are

• Grand Prize: $30,000 USD in cash.
• 2nd Prize: $15,000 USD in cash.
• 3rd Prize: $5,000 USD in cash.

For Each Category so there are up to USD 200,000 in prizes for the 12 winning ideas and everyone will get a chance to be part of OVI Store .

To participate both in local and Global contest , the global entry should be in English

Here’s what you need to do for a chance to win the special prize in Pakistan:

1. Check out the contest categories to determine which category best fits your skills and interests, and then decide what kind of apps consumers in your region would want.
2. Create an application, a piece of content, or a Web Runtime widget that works on Nokia mobile devices and is relevant to your local market. The app can be in English or in Urdu.
3. Submit your entry to the contest before the deadline on 18 May 2010. For a qualified entry, you must submit all of the files required for a successful installation of the app, and let us know which Nokia devices can run the app. Then, tell us about your app, and what makes it unique and appealing for consumers. Optionally, you can include supporting documentation about how your application works, what inspired you to create it, etc.

• Deadline for submissions: 18 May 2010
• Announcement of finalists: June 2010
• Announcement of winners: September 2010
