It took me some getting used to but after a couple of day , I was able to drag it just right. I kept my thumb on the NAvikey and flicked it without hitting the edges , you'll get used to it

The Opti Navi Key is really bad. While using it in a menu, each flick of your thumb only takes it to the next icon, which is a whole lot more tedious, frustrating and annoying than pressing a button three times. Compare this to the Blackberry 8520 where a swipe of the thumb moves it across the horizontal width of the menu. That makes sense, not what the Opti Navi Key does (as of now).

Unfortunately, the bad news isn't restricted to that. The problem above could theoretically be fixed with a firmware update. But the button has been designed poorly as well. In order to have both the traditional D-pad functionality as well as the new optical feature, the edges of the button are raised, and so flicking your thumb across the button is rather unpleasant, and I wouldn't be surprised that it may cause blisters on your thumb or at least some irritation.

Poor design and implementation by Nokia, on what could otherwise be an amazing phone.
