Mobile World Congress 2010 is around the corner , to be held from 15-18th Feb 2010 , earlier Nokia said that they are not going to participate and still they are standing on the stance that Nokia is not going to participate in Mobile World Congress but will be there outside the venue , around the corner , a short walk from the Mobile World Congress Venue , at ONCE - home of the Spanish National Organization for the Blind , the event will be held from 0900 – 1900 on 15th and 16th Feb .
The image shows how Nokia is piggybacking on the larger Mobile World Congress but on the bright side , Nokia offers “ As an alternative to the noise and crowds at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, invited guests can relax on comfy sofas, enjoy delicious food and drinks as they discuss the industry and network with their peers — all courtesy of Nokia.”
The main highlight of the event is The Nokia Press Conference which will take place at Once on February 15 from 11.30am to 12.30pm CET. This will be followed by breakout presentations and interview opportunities with senior Nokia executives and subject matter experts.

My Thoughts
Nokia , some may say is not doing the right thing , by creating it’s own event on the back of Mobile World Congress , but think of it as a marketer , Nokia is creating it’s own hype , it’s correct they are cashing ( some may say crashing ) in on Mobile World Congress event and attendees but at these events isn’t the main aim is to have the most attendees listen to one’s pitch .
On the other hand Nokia is making the event Free , , MWC attendees has to shell out atleast Euro 600 for basic participation and Nokia is giving out invitations for free , although to selected people which are viable for their business . In my opinion , people will visit the MWC but will also come to Nokia , some would not want to miss Eric Schmidt’s keynote address at MWC than there are discussions on Mobile Advertising , Cloud and Mobile and other interesting presentations from France Telecom to Bharti Telecom India .
To attract more and more participants Nokia should also pitch on the details of the program , what they will be talking about . Free Food , Drinks and comfortable seating will not be a charm for those interested in doing business , a hint at something new and try out some new technology will bring people in .
