Nokia N8’s launch is around the corner and I was thinking on how to make the most of the three screens it offers.
Multiple screen concept is not new in the market with Apple pioneering it followed by Nokia’s own N900 running Maemo and on Android phones. However Apple due to it’s multi tasking limitations never moved to live widgets which were featured on N900 and Android. With N8 , Nokia is entering the new era fo Symbian where user can have multiple ( upto 3) screens with different widgets running.
As in Nokia N97 , N97 Mini and C5 , per screen Widgets are limited to 6 so a total of 18 live widgets could be added to N8 which could suffice even the information junkie like me.
Now to make the most of the screens , I’m planning to ‘organize’ the widgets as per genre , like my first main screen will be dedicated to news as this screen will also have the Time and profile widget I’ll be limited to just 5 news services mainly
- Dawn.com ( Pakistani news service)
- Associated Press
- CNN Video
- Al Jazeera Video
- India Times
I can fix the next screen to be my office information portal with widgets for emails , Bloomberg , Nokia Notifications , Nokia Bots , Calendar and the like
The Final screen will be my Personal screen with Facebook and Gravity Widgets , Google Chat Widget , Music Player and a couple of RSS feeds regarding technology.
How you will use the multiple screens on your N8 - do let us know in comments
