Nokia N87 – Captured as it Happened

by Farhan on December 14, 2009

Recently PhoneArena ( Article now removed but cached copy can be found )  posted a video on You Tube about the upcoming Nokia N87 with

  • 12.1 Mega Pixel Carl Zeiss Camera
  • Xenon and Dual LED Flash -  a First  -best of both worlds  for taking snaps and Videos
  • A Snappy 600MHZ processor -  Nokia it’s not so snappy anymore , 800 MHZ and above are in the market want it ‘Snappy’ make it a Snap Dragon
  • 3.2 inch 480  x 800  pixel resolution Capacitive Screen -  Finally Nokia is leaning towards Capacitive
  • Dual Slider -  Hmm Nokia N95 style continued but why you need Dual Slider when you have a Capacitive Touch Screen-  I think there is only one silder
  • Upto 16 GB Internal Storage -  hmm is 8GB also in works like iPhone

  Nokia N87 details

The Marketing Slogan for the phone is “  Captured as it Happens “  and the Video was captured as it happened and posted online .

Alas the video is now removed , when I tried to play the video on You Tube , I got the message Video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Nokia Corporation and that strongly suggests that the Phone is in the works and will be released soon  .

Here’s a simple question: what comes after the Nokia N86 8MP? Well, of course – it is the Nokia N87 12MP! And while the manufacturer hasn’t given away anything about such a handset for the moment, a “video” on YouTube, consisting of an image of what seems to be a top-secret Nokia document, reveals that a 12.1-megapixel cameraphone is indeed in the works. As you would expect from a Nokia cameraphone, it will be equipped with Carl Zeiss optics. Not only that, but it looks like that a Xenon flash along with a dual LED flash will also be on board.
Now, if you are wondering what the phone itself will look like, the document suggests that it will be a dual slider, featuring a 3.2-inch capacitive screen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels, an abundant amount of internal storage space and a 600MHz processor. So, are you excited about that still very unofficial Nokia N87 12MP handset? Unfortunately, we do not have any idea of when it might show up; some of the comments below the video suggest that a 12MP Symbian-powered Nokia phone is coming out next year, but it isn’t certain if that would be the N87 12MP.

I think it’ll be a single-slider, with no numeric keypad.
It will be the sad-end of a wonderful design that began with the N95. I wish I could’ve owned a dual-slider for a while. But it seems that it is already dead.
