Nokia N97 F/w V20 updated

Finally I’ve managed to update the F/W on my father’s Nokia N97 -  and my first impression was WOW , the Kinetic scrolling rocks other updates include

  • OVI Maps 3.1 with 3-D mapping
  • Nokia Messaging
  • OVI Contacts
  • OVI Store and
  • VOIP Support

some improvements in battery performance and memory had been made but I’m unable to notice any memory improvements :(

Eyecandy below shows everything and the Video further below shows the WOW -  Kinetic scrolling :)

    nice…. i am still waiting for a firmware update for 5800xm to include kinetic scrolling… Chances are v31 was the last one..

    @ Danish , don’t give up hope , there are rumors that 5800 will see the Kinetic scrolling , Nokia has to sell the 5800 Navigation Edition , wait for a few weeks

    yeah i hope so.. anyways n97 is looking better with all these things.. did v12 have kinetic scrolling or was it introduced in v20?.

    Nokia still has a lot to do on kinetic scrolling, i used 5530xm of a freind of mine, it’s kinetic scroling was good but not that impressive as compared to iphone. Hoping to see X6 defaming iphone in this category.

    @ Danish ,- Kinetic scrolling came with V20 F/W , 5530 does not have Kinetic scrolling ,although some applications like Gravity and Nokia Photo Browser acts that way

    5530 has kinetic scrolling in messages, music player, main menu and gallery

    The new firmware is not yet available for my n97. I am still waiting. I think they have not released it for all the pieces yet.

    Did you install the new fw through software updater or from within the device?

    @ Aqeel , I downloaded it through Nokia Software Updater and as far as my knowledge is concerned it’s released for almost all the variants
