The word on The Street is that Nokia is working on a MeeGo based tablet to rival iPad . According to Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar , the guy very close to Nokia’s tech development , Nokia is working with the suppliers and designers for a touch screen tablet .
"Nokia hasn’t fielded any breakaway products in years," says Kumar. "This is a new window, and Nokia had better be at the starting gate if and when the product category takes off," Kumar added.
Nokia is not the only one with MSI , Asus , Acer , HP , even Microsoft and Android powered tablets from Chinese manufacturers into the horizon , Nokia’s foray into tablet market has it’s advantages .
First tablets are not new to Nokia , even the N900 although small is a tablet and with collaboration with Intel in developing the MeeGO OS , could it mean future collaboration into chip and processor technology .
At Sense Applied we believe , Nokia is going into the right direction , Tablets are the next big thing after netbooks , but Nokia has to exercise caution , pricing is the most important thing in this territory , Nokia has already tasted dust with Booklet 3G when the similarly equipped netbooks were available at a much lower price , so Nokia should hit the sweet price point with their MeeGo tablet and unlike their usual slow approach should come out with it quick before others jump in and dominate the market.
