At the start of Olli Pekka’s Keynote Speech at the CES’s sessions on Technology and Emerging counties , some amazing Nokia statsitics were presented under the banner of “ A Sketch of Nokia Universe “
Nokia is truly a global company with presence in 220 Countries while UN has only 192 on their charter . So it’s not UN but Nokia which connects us all
- Currently there are 1.2 Billion Nokia Devices in use - so one in every 6 persons is a Nokia User around the world
- Nokia’s production is 9 Devices per Second or 284 million devices per year
- Every Year 184.4 million times Nokia devices are carried across borders
- At any given moment there are an estimated
- 350 Nokia Devices in Taj Mahal - Agra India
- 525 Nokia Devices at Eiffel Tower - Paris France
- 5000 Nokia Devices at Disney World - USA
- 6750 Nokia Devices at Forbidden City - Beijing China
My Thoughts
So after looking at these figures does Nokia looks like an ailing company ? which the world thinks it is
That’s the image Nokia wants to portray , although Nokia is loosing to Apple , RIM , HTC and will loose to Google’s Nexus One on the high end category unless Nokia comes up with something ground breaking ( there may be some devices but they are part of Nokia’s 2015 vision ) , but in the mid and low end range it’s truly a leader , still there is competition from Samsung which is making inroads in Nokia’s mid tier category dominance with it’s Touch Screen phones and Nokia has to redefine their device strategy against them . At the low end Chinese manufacturers are giving it a hard time but when it comes to Quality perception Nokia is still No1 on user’s minds
So what you think will Nokia dominate this decade as it has dominated the last one or we will see some shuffling in ranks .
For me I’ve haven’t lost hope for the company which started at a Lumbar Mill and now is leader in technology , they have done it once , they can do it again
