OVI Maps Covering Pakistan

Finally OVI Maps is finally supporting Pakistan , well not full street by street Navigation , atleast they have begun with the POIs , no more results from 400 kms away in India when I search for a place to eat , It now shows Cafe Flo and Arizona Grill some 5 kms away from my house

Going loco , OVI maps even show Bohri Bazar Karachi

It’s just a start with POIs , hopefully Nokia will have full vector based , routable maps of Pakistan

to give it a more Desi feel I’ve installed Urdu language navigational support , now it says Aap apni manzil par pahunch chuke hain , when I’ve reached my destination in a music to the ear female voice a good change from the stern authoritarian Brit I listen to when using my Garmin XT

    Excellent… i think nokia has finally understood that connecting people also means connecting people in pakistan..

    Is it only for karachi or does it cover islamabad too?

    Right now I’m only able to check for Karachi where I live , you can check if it’s showing Islamabad POIs else there is always Garmin

    Hi OP, your post could be pretty good to be as a news but I’ll talk about the real use of the detail of it. To me they are crap, the features and the routes are not well defined there every thing goes in the wrong way. I don’t know what they are but seems to me that they just connected cities with a line not even following te roads.
    so they are really not going to be very usefull.
    I’ll still be waiting for them to get the imagery for more area in the Pakistan so that they could fix the data on it.

    @ KA , the post was made a while back , Nokia is working on adding Pakistan maps and you can see some improvement by the end of Q12010

    I checked ovi maps 3.0 last night and there were maps of 180 countries except Pakistan. there are no maps of Pakistan .

    if we go for downloading maps, it does’nt give an option for Pakistan. So should we download India go get Pakistan data

    Untill it dont have maps for Pakistan, u can use Google maps. to upgrade or download ovi maps for your mobile , visit here …
