Finally iPhone / iPod touch can be smarter now, they now have a compatible Ms Office Word and Excel Editor and Creater by Quick Office .
For those living in Nokia realm , Quick Office is not new to them it’s the same old version 4 software which every Nokia e series has on which you can create Word , Excel and even PowerPoint files ( v4 is limited to Office XP only while V6 can also edit Office 2007 docs ) .
After conquering the Nokia , it was iPhone / iPod Touch which was the next goal and one of the most missed application by me a power business user .
The application , Quick Office can be purchased from the itunes store for $19.99 and is worth every penny .
The iPhone / iPod Touch Quick Office includes suport for Word , Excel and offers wifi access to files to and fro from the PC .
in Word , the application offers a multitude of options including text formatting into bold , Italics , Font colors , Highlight and even Fonts .
Offered Fonts inlcude
- Arial
- Courier
- Georgia
- Helvetica
- Times New Roman
- Trebuchet &
- Verdana
While the font size can be changed to 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 14 , 16 , 18 , 20, 22 , 24 , 26 , 28 , 36 , 48 , 72 point size with other sizes in between .
Other Innovative options include Cut , copy and Paste or even Delete .
The method is very simple all you have to do is tap on a word , a blue marker will appear with start and end knobs , shift the knobs to the words you want to cut or paste and tap the clip board icon given below to choose the desired option . The same applies for Paste just tap any where you want to paste the text and choose Paste from the options .
Other option includes adding bullets to the text . Only one type of bullet is supported and offerd .
In Excel the application again offers a number of options found in MS Excel like Row and column Insertion
Also offered is ability to use Formulas
Cell options can also be uitlized making them either number , Text , Currency , Percentage etc
Cells can also be given a background color and also ‘UNDO’ option is present
Perhaps the most innovative feature is WiFi access to files ( sorry wifi is required you cannot send the files by Bluetooth )
Click on the Wifi Desktop connection and you’ll be shown an address to be put into your browser
Enter the address in your browser and you will be instantly given access to the files . Security factors are bulitin , the browser address changes everytime the option is started , the WFi connect page has to be open to have access to the documents , There is even a Password protection option which gives a numeric password which changes everytime it’s generated so the transfer is secure and no one can have access to your documents without authorization .
On the Pc Browser it gives the list of documents . selected documents can be downloaded and files can b uploaded from the PC
Over all i’m having a good experience with the Quick Office application , with support for multi touch Zoom ( like Safari browser) and rotation it sure is a winner app for my iPhone .
