Setting up Email on Nokia E72

by Farhan on December 20, 2009

Nokia E72 is made for messaging and email is an integral part of it.  With support for Nokia Messaging software , it can access upto  10 email accounts with full html support and even plays Youtube Videos embedded in the email .

The best way to setup email on Nokia E72 is to make an account on email.nokia.com , add all the email account you want it to access.  It’s a three setep solution , click new , add email account , click save and you’ll be all set .

On the Nokia E72 , go to email setup and add Nokia Messaging login and password and it will sync with Nokia Messaging server and download all account information and emails itself .

Later you can add or remove email accounts either through phone or the website . Nokia does not store any email on their servers so privacy is guaranteed and deleting email from phone will also delete it from your email server   .

The video below will give you an overview on how to setup Nokia Messaging on your E72

Good article! Very easy set-up. You say that when you delete an email on the phone it also gets deleted from the email server. But this does not seem to happen on POP3 servers. On my old E61 when you selected “delete” you had two options: 1) delete from just the phone or 2) delete from phone and server. Is there a way to delete from the server? Would be very useful! Thanks

@Dave , your Nokia email account ( Nokia Messaging ) is linked with your email server / gmail etc account and whenever you delete an email on the phone , it on next sync will also delete it from the server

    Hi,

Ive been using before Nokia E71 and its Nokia Messegaing was I think a way better since it let you set up time when to stay connected etc.
I cant find this option on E72 Messaging? Is it gone?

    thanks for help.

I’ll check it out and let you know

Sorry I already found a way how to manage that! The problem is that now Nokia Messaging is not like in the past ie in Nokia E71. Now its inegrated into Nokia E72 with Ovi. There is no possibility to download Nokia Messaging so as well its not visible in folder Aplications but just in folder and incon Email.

Excellent set up vid, thanks. I need more control over email on my phone. The emails automatically delete from my phone after I open the same emails on my PC. Another problem is that I cannot find sent emails on my phone when I reply to an email (but I can find fresh sent emails). Are there solutions to these two problems?

    Hello All,
I just got my self a upgrade from My Nokia E71 to a Nokia E72 “White Edition”, but Sadly It Feels like a downgrade.Critical Issues faced are :

1.) I Configured Mail for Exchange on the phone to sync with my google contacts, but I canot select only contacts and calender to sync, which i used u have in my E71.. Only if mail sync is enabled, it syncs the contacts and calendar which was not the case in my E71, where i had selected it to sync only calendar and contacts but not the mail. Which is simply not possible with the new E72.

2.)The Nokia Messaging Email Client is outdated 2.xxx in my E72, But my E71 had 3.xx which stands out in the below issues :

But the major issue is when we recieve a mail alert, it doesnt show to which mail box the new mail has come, I have about 8 mail boxes when i recieve a mail alert i actually have to visit all the 8 mail boxes to check where the mail has come.
Also the biggest problem is when you locate the mail it shows in a plain text format, but my E71 use to display it in HTML format by default. The plain text has a lot of line breaks which shows up has huge gaps and you have to do a lot of scrolling to read the message which totally would have lost its formatting and is hard to make sense out of the email. You can view it in HTML, but then it shows retrieving for a long time and then opens up the mail, for a guy who gets around 50 emails a day doesnt make sense to wait each time to view in HTML..

Note: You cant view HTML mail from MfE mail boxes at all!!

As a legacy Nokia fan (have been since last 10 years, all my phones being nokia) I went and bought the E72 (regrets, plan to change to a Blackberry Device) after using the th E71 for quite a while, The E72 which actually is a E series business phone which cant do the basic things right. No wonder Nokia is loosing Their market share to Players like iPhone, Blackberrys, and Androids.

Hope we see a patch or update soon, before ppl trash their E72, never look back to nokia again and opt for something like a blackberry with the same form factor. Which does all the above things in ease.
