Nokia is leaking like an open faucet on their upcoming N-86 the 8 Mega Pixel photo centric phone , today again they released another photo of ‘Barcelona’ and like the previous pic it shows the time taken at 9 am 17th Feb i.e. tomorrow

Later today they have released a background info brochure on Carl Zeiss and leaked the whole enchilada showing the phone in it’s full glory

and if that was not enough the whole spec sheet is out for the taking .

The phone specs include

Symbian 3.2 , 149g weight , made of premium metals and hardened scratch resistant glass screen . 8 GB internal memory and 16 GB card support and 74mb internal dynamic memory , 2.6 inch AM OLED Display with 240 x 320 res , 8 Mp Carl Zeiss camera with 3rd Gen Dual LED Flash , 1.75 micron pixel image sensor , automatic aperture control , the best it has a kick stand to stand the phone and dual slide like other N series . Other specs are same shared with other phones Wifi , Bluetooth , A-GPS , Maps etc

Expected to be launched in Q2 2009

Price not yet known

My thoughts , the phone is good with 8 MP Camera although mostly I take my pics at 3 Mp only for better results but it’s me , the dynamic memory is only 74 mb , can it handle mutitasking , and beside the camera no other cutting edge technologies rest is the same as my N95-8gb

Anyhow the phone seems nice , I’ll wait for hands on however I’ll wait till 9 am tomorrow morning ( Central European Time ) for the phone to be announced .

Building on their most successful Business Series “ E” class phones with more then a Ten million units sold in 2008, At Mobile World Congress - Barcelona , Nokia has announced 4 new devices as yet including two new E Series

“Efficiency is about doing more with less and focusing on what’s truly essential,” says Kai Oistamo, Executive Vice President at Nokia. “With direct access to Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes, companies can potentially save up to a third of their operating costs as there’s no need for middleware or additional servers.”

Keeping the business both theirs and consumers Nokia has introduced the E75 and the E55

The E75 to be available in March for Euro 375 , featuring a Candybar style with a slide out keyboard ( one keypad and one keyboard ) others specs are same as other E Series , so except the form factor nothing new here

“With the Nokia E75 we took a lot of inspiration from the Nokia 9300, which was our first mini communicator,” adds Oistamo. “Owners of the Nokia 9300 loved the messaging functionality a full keyboard provided, but also used the traditional phone keypad a great deal. With the Nokia E75 we kept these essential ingredients, significantly upgraded all of the features and made it as compact as possible.”

But with this small screen, don’t insult the 9300

What impressed me is the Nokia E55 , at 9.9mm thickness claimed to be thinnest SmartPhone .

“When we launched the Nokia E71 last year, we really set a new standard for just how compact a full QWERTY device could be,” continues Oistamo. “We have continued on this theme and have come back with the world’s most compact messaging device, the Nokia E55.”

“With the Nokia E55 we have made messaging as efficient and pocketable as possible,” continues Oistamo. “In our usage tests, the Nokia E55′s compact QWERTY keyboard has been proven to be fast to learn and quicker to use than standard phone keypads.”

Featuring a Sony Ericsson P1 style with two alphabets on on one key , the phone features 2.4 inch screen ( 16 million color ), accelerometer ,support upto 16gb Memory Card , A-GPS and Nokia maps 3.0 . The phone features a 3.2 Mp Camera and runs Symbian S60 3.2.3 .

The phone also has IM support builtin with GMAIL , YAHOO and MSN chat services preinstalled and comes equipped with Nokia Office Tools .

Expected to retail at 265 Euros ( 110 Euros less then E75 ) and will be available in Q2 2009

“With companies looking to consolidate costs and assets, and with the number of email-enabled devices in the Nokia range and our direct access model, Nokia look set to continue this performance in 2009,” concludes Oistamo.

So which one you are waiting to buy the E75 or E55 , I’ll go for E55 it’s thinner and sexier then the dual keyboard E75 and ofcourse offers better bang for the buck

Comments are welcome on my choice :p

Nokia has expanded their offerings with introduction of another Xpress music Phone the 5630 XM , no it does not have touch screen but still has cutting edge technology .

The Candy bar offers voice control based on Nuance’s NVC 2.0 voice recognition engine featuring the same technology behind Dragon Naturally Speaking so no more searching for music say the artist or track name and play . The same engine could also be expanded to Voice to Text for SMS and data entry .

That’s not it the phone also offers the 3.2 MP “Full Focus Camera”, offers enhances Depth of Field for better focus offering quicker and better snaps along with 15fps video recording and photo editor on device.

In communication wise it also offers Wifi and Bluetooth but no GPS .

Making a people device , the Home Screen had been redesigned and a contact bar with access to 20 closest friends displayed as images or avatars had been included with full communication history with them including email , MMS , shared photos , messages , phone calls and a shortcut bar goves quick access to most used applications .

One extra detail I noticed is

128 MB internal dynamic memory

256 MB internal NAND flash memory

These specs are usually of WinMO phones so what Nokia is planning to do with this phone ???

To be available by Q2 2009 , the phone will cost 200 Euros .

Informingly

Soon Nokia 5800 will be launched in Karachi , I was not able to attend the launch of Nokia E71 last year so I don’t know what the setup will be like but being a tech aficionado I do have some ideas of my own which could be used to show the phone in it’s full glory .

The phone has TV Out make use of it , connect some to 42 inch LCD screens and run different applications on them , a visitor never forgets the big picture

Run movies on one - Nokia 5800 is launched as Express Music i.e entertainment centric run movie clips like Transformers , Batman Returns ( especially the part showing Nokia 5800 when Mr Morgan uses it ) , if decency allows Britney Spears ‘Womanizer’ again displaying the phone , Piryanka Chopra at Nokia 5800 launch in India associating the phone with the stars

Run games like Checkers , Touch Piano , Touch Guitar , Mobile Paint etc for a ‘ touch experience ‘ and add some speakers to it for a true music experience

Also display Nokia Ovi services like email account , contacts on OVI even Gmail and Nokia Maps ( satellite mode ) to show GPS Capabilities .

Display alternate uses of the phone , I have used my N95- 8GB as a ‘carputer’ , attach a small screen to it and hook it up with a bluetooth keyboard , you’ll have a full fledge mobile office and a mobile GPS system , you can see the pics at http://senseapplied.com/index.php/more-nokia-n95-8gb-carputer-eye-candy/

Have one showing ‘Inclinometer’ for the accelerometer and another one running MyPhone changing 5800 into iPhone

I haven’t had the chance to use the phone in person bust the programs I’ve recommended are all available and I’ve seen them being used on the phone .

These are just a few ideas I have of course Nokia marketing has a much better idea on how to use to show the phone but in my words “user experience’ counts load up the phones with applications and let the users experience them .

Suggestingly

Farhan

A Skater Pic posted at Nokia N Series site tells the tale of the Nokia 8 mega Pixel be launched in MWC two days from today

according to Nokia “ We managed to snap this pretty picture with a Nokia device. We think it looks pretty cool. What do you think?” , an inquisitive reader thought and checked out the EXIF of the larger image which came out as 8 Mp ( 2448 X 3264 Pix ) taken by a Nokia Phone with undisclosed Carl Zeiss Lens

( This pic is my own )

There is only one phone according to Roadmap and that’s Nokia codename Corolla , just yesterday I predicted that Nokia could bring out Corolla at Mobile World Congress in my post http://senseapplied.com/index.php/mystery-nokia-device/ and my prediction is coming true . Corolla due in Wk11 2009 features

8 Megapixel Camera

3 inch VGA Screen (Non Touch)

Series 60 version 5.0.1 OS

1/2 QWERTY Keyboard

8GB Memory

WiFi

HSDPA/HSUPA

FM Transmitter

AGPSOne more thing to notice is the F/Ware it’s 5.0.1 something new up Nokia’s sleeve but will it have a touch screen , I think so as Nokia has already asked it’s chip suppliers to be ready for a surge in demand .

Looking forward to Mobile Monday Madness

Nokia has recently released a video about Nokia N97 design video and ‘purposely’ has shown another device which many believe including Nokiaport.de ( picttures obtained from their site ) could be Nokia Ivalo featuring

Symbian 5

3.5 inch Wide Screen

32GB ROM

AGPS

FM Transmitter

5 MP Camera

However in my opinion it also could be IP08 Featuring the above features sans the 32GB ROM

With Mobile World Congress around the corner , I say Nokia Corolla is almost due - leaked roadmap shows it to be released in Week 11 2009 or somewhere in March could it be a premature delivery when Samsung and Sony will be showing their 8MP cameras as Corolla features

8 Megapixel Camera

And when we thought now Nokia is all about 5800 Express Music and N97 , their latest touch screen phones , Nokia surprised us with not one but three S40 based mid range phones featuring from a simple ‘smart phone’ phone with 2gb of storage to a 5MP , AGPS touting beauty ,all featuring Nokia Ovi services. and here are Nokia 2700 , Nokia 6303 and Nokia 6700 Classic each a leader in it’s class. With these phones Nokia is targeting the next billion mobile users who will have their first online and email experience via a mobile phone , supporting “ this is what the future of computers have become.”

Starting from Nokia 2700 , a poor man’s smart phone , weighing only 85g and priced at Euro 65, it’s perfect for anyone looking for a featured pack phone without breaking the bank .

The phone features EDGE connection , Mail on OVI , Share on OVI Nokia Life Tools , Mp3 Player , FM radio , 3.5mm jack , Bluetooth and multimedia capabilitiues supported by a 2mpx camera. The phone can support upto 2 gb micro sd for additional storage. The only drw back is the display with 256 colors 320 x 240 ( eat this Win Mo ) TFT . The standby time is 12 days with 6 hours of talk time .

. “These features mean people can save, access and share files in hundreds of formats via Nokia’s online service, Share on Ovi, or a number of other websites. The rich features and simple interface mean that in many cases, the Nokia 2700 classic will provide its owner’s first Internet experience,” says Soren Petersen, Senior Vice President, Nokia.

Coming to the Nokia 6303 Classic – the everyone’s phone with it’s 2.2 inch 16.7 million color QVGA screen , 17mb onboard and 4 gb expandable and stainless steel body is a steal at only Euro 135 touting a 3.2 MP camera with dual led flash and a long lasting 7 hr talk time and weigh only 96g .

The phone comes pre loaded with Nokia Maps to be used with a Bluetooth gps device , Maps can be loaded via it’s micro usb connector and with a 3.5mm AV jack could be an ideal music companion with thousands of tracks on 4gb memory card or by radio .

Saving the best for last comes Nokia 6700 Classic – the flagship S40 phone building on the reputation of Nokia 6300\s record breaking sales , 6700 wants to take over at mediocre price of Euro 235 .

6700 features a 2.2 inch QVGA like 6303 featuring 16.7 million color , 5 MP camera with dual led flash , accelerometer ( will be able to use flip silent like Nokia 8800 carbon arte ) , Nokia OVI suite of applications and off course a A-GPS coupled with Nokia maps to show your ocation and possibly share it with the world you be around the corner or across the world .

The phone has 150 mb of internal memory and supports upto 8gb of expansion.

What these phones means for nokia

With the growing market concerns and falling incomes worldwide a feature pack phone with premium materials and cutting edge technologies is what phone companies need to maintain their share , serving the growing middle tier market . where high end phones mean higher revenues and high profit per piece , these mid range phones mean higher volumes and overall increase in profit due to the mass market they appeal . giving the current world scenario , I think Nokia made a wise decision to bin out these phones at he prices affordable according to the segment they cater to meanwhile offering best price feature ratio till to date . now that’s smart thinking l my advice work on more applications for S40 as one of the drawbacks is that not half as many useful applications are available for s40 as they are available for s60 , hopefully with these devices , developers will see the mass market appeal and come up with some new software for S40

Wishing the best to Nokia

Farhan
