Wolfram Alpha on iPhone – Possibilities Endless

Wolfram Alpha , the online computational Engine , is now available on iPhone .  Wondering what the rage is all about

Wolfram Alpha is a computational Engine , meaning , ask it what you need , however you want and it will give you a near perfect answer , it’s not limited to searching your own name only , which it may not find but ask it how Apple is doing vs Nokia and RIM and it will give you complete graph , their earnings , dividends and even their profits as posted

How about how many hits www.senseapplied.com gets ( I’m ashamed to show the figure but still )

Wondering what happened on a particular date like your own birthday and what was the date on the alternate calendars like Hijri , Hebrew etc , Wolfram Alpha can tell you that -  For me it was showing Hijri date , depending on my location i.e Pakistan a Muslim country , if I would have asked the same question in Israel , the answer would have been in Hebrew Calendar .  It also shows who was born that day , what happened on that day

How about some calculation I asked it 45mg Value at USD 1900 per Kg and it gave me the right answer in cents but when I asked 45mg value at USD 1900 per KG in Pakistani Rupees , guess what the application shut down , guess it has it’s limits

Looking for Movie and Music information , how about Gone with the Wind , from release date to actors to Total Gross ( unadjusted ) Box Office sales all in one query

The application is even capable of running Graphical Equations with Graphs, I didn’t tried them as I never used them since I flunked Calculus 101

The possibilities of Wolfram Alpha is endless , be it a stock trader ( sorry no Pakistani stocks )  , a student running complex calculations in the college Calculus class  or a businessman running their costings ,word meanings , thesaurus ,  whatever you ask , you will get the answer and if  Wolfram Alpha finds it too overwhelming for the iPhone it will shut down

The price of this knowledge is a bit hefty at USD 49.99 and available at iTunes store

Am I using it ?

Yes I am , a good tool for my kids to play with and answer their why this and why that questions , a great calculator , saves me a lot of time , and all other knick knacks I can think of -
